Forum submission on Engineered Stone

Late last year the Minister of Workplace Relations and Safety released a discussion paper outlining a range of options to manage the growing risk of acute and accelerated silicosis from engineered stone products.

We have worked alongside industry colleagues at CHASNZ, NZISM and occupational health experts to pull together this submission, and it borrows strongly from their good work.  The Forum’s submission outlines four key recommendations:

1. Staged restrictions on engineered stone

2. Committing to ethical sourcing standards

3. Stronger controls, licensing, and an end-to-end silica strategy

4. Ongoing research and monitoring.
