Wellington CEO lunch

As a CEO member of the Forum, you are invited to our upcoming CEO-only informal lunch in Wellington.

Over the year, the Forum has teamed up with MinterEllisonRuddWatts, Anthony Harper, and KPMG to bring members a series of CEO-only lunches in Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington.

This will be an informal, small gathering opportunity to connect, share, and learn as CEOs, all navigating the challenges and opportunities demanded by keeping our people safe and our businesses productive.

With Penny Nelson, outgoing Director-General of the Department of Conservation

Penny's career has spanned private sector, industry leadership and central government executive roles, including Ministry for the Environment, Ministry for Primary Industry, Sustainable Business Council, Landcare Research and DairyNZ.

A consistent theme across this diverse range of roles has been Penny's ability to connect people, systems and purpose to enable effective, sustainable performance. Her time as the Director General at the Department of Conservation - New Zealand's largest land manager - required Penny to call on all of that experience to lead a complex, nationally distributed organisation responsible for managing significant environmental, operational and public safety risks. Her leadership has also required navigating the enduring legacy of the Cave Creek tragedy in 1995 where 14 people - 13 students and a DOC field officer - died in a viewing platform collapse

Event details:

This two-hour session will be an opportunity to hear directly from Penny reflecting on her leadership journey, the lessons learned from leading large and complex systems, and the challenges of stewarding an organisation carrying both immense responsibility and a profound historical legacy.

It will also be a chance to discuss challenges and opportunities with a small group of like-minded Forum CEOs in a Chatham-House rules environment.
